About "FURRI - Feline Utopian Rescue and Refuge, Inc":
FURRI is an animal welfare organization in Manistee, MI. We serve as a domestic cat rescue and planning on adding a small exotic feline sanctuary in the future.
Information about "FURRI - Feline Utopian Rescue and Refuge, Inc":
F.U.R.R.I. is an organization located in Manistee, Michigan USA nestled in a very beautiful and peaceful forested area. There are two divisions of our organization; a domestic cat rescue, shelter, and adoption center and a refuge/sanctuary for small exotic felines.
Mission Statement:
F.U.R.R.I. is a pending not-for-profit organization providing shelter for stray, abused and/or neglected domestic and exotic felines in Manistee County, Michigan and surrounding communities to improve their quality of life, and to provide educational opportunities for feline owners.
Purpose:
F.U.R.R.I. is to provide assistance to the community by furnishing safe housing, information and training programs to improve standards of care for abandoned, abused and/or homeless domestic and exotic felines.
Objective:
F.U.R.R.I. is to elevate the standards of care of identified felines by:
Providing quality care for domestic felines until placement in a pre-approved home,
Furnishing sanctuary and permanent home to unwanted exotic felines,
Providing initial and routine examinations by a licensed veterinarian,
Assuring that all animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption and that no breeding will take place at the sanctuary,
Open facilities to the general public on a set schedule to provide educational programs and informational publications.
Vision:
F.U.R.R.I. is to provide a safe habitat and placement for all abused, neglected and unwanted domestic and exotic felines in the community by providing professional care for an improved quality of life.
Our Plans:
Currently, we are privately funded and in much need of donations and sponsors to further construction. We are working hard at obtaining 501c3 status as a non-profit organization so that any material and monetary donations are tax deductible. There will be two outbuildings to start with and the domestic and exotic cats will be housed separately. Our goal is to obtain the proper amount of money and volunteering to finalize construction by September, 2005. We are also in the process of obtaining all legal licensing, permits, and accreditations.
URGENT: We are in dire need of domestic cat foster homes and volunteers. Since we are privately funded at this time, monetary and material donations are much needed and appreciated as well!
Special clauses, requirements, or other limitations on those who wish to adopt:
Wild feline species will not be available for public adoption. Anyone interested in adopting one or more of our domestic cats must first read our adoption policy and fill out an adoption application which can be found at http://www.furri.org.
We have a set adoption fee of $40, and all our cats go with a health record and free toy.
